RED FLAGS TO WATCH OUT FOR :

Avoid Continue The Process of QR CODE SCAN IF :

STOP and think before scanning a QR code if:

A) 🚩 It asks you to download an app or directs you to an unfamiliar website.

B) 🚩 The website asks for banking details, passwords, card information, personal information, or OTP/TAC codes.

C) 🚩 You are told to scan a QR code to receive a refund, prize, payment, or money, especially when you are then asked to enter banking details or approve a transaction.

D) 🚩 The QR name/recipient does not match the actual shop, restaurant, business or person you intended to pay.

E) 🚩 You receive a random QR code through email, WhatsApp, SMS or social media, especially from an unknown sender.

F) 🚩 The QR code looks tampered with, covered, replaced, blurry or suspicious — particularly on payment displays or posters.

G) 🚩 The website, app, SMS or QR page creates urgency or threats, such as “Act now,” “Your account will be locked,” or “Pay immediately to avoid a penalty.”

🛡️ HOW TO STAY SAFE

✅ Check the recipient's name and payment amount before confirming.
✅ Check the URL after scanning — look carefully for fake or misspelled domains.
✅ Never share OTP/TAC, PIN, password or banking credentials with anyone.
✅ Don't install apps/APKs just because a QR code tells you to.
✅ If something feels suspicious, close the page and verify through the company's official website or phone number.
✅ Don't scan QR codes from unknown sources.
✅ If a QR code has been stuck over or placed on top of another QR code, don't scan it until you verify it with the business.
✅ Remember: Scanning a QR code can lead you to a malicious website — the QR code itself isn't proof that the destination is safe.
